Two women, one kitchen, no shortcuts.
What's in a name? The name on the door is a tribute. Chef and owner Ria Ramoutar named the restaurant for her mother, Debbra "Lola" Ramoutar, a retired schoolteacher from the rural Caparo village countryside, and still the person Ria calls her greatest inspiration in the kitchen.
Everything either of them knows about cooking came the same way: no formal training, but feeding the people they love. Lola learned from her own mother, Juliana, a woman whose kitchen was the pride of their village. Ria learned the same way at her mother's side.
Coming from humble beginnings in the country meant a good meal was never treated as something small: it was how you told someone they mattered. Two home cooks, working out of a family kitchen, somehow built one of the most loved dining rooms in Trinidad. We'd like to think Juliana would be proud.
